Big Finish, Companion Chronicles
I am not a big fan of the Mike Yates stories but this one was a absorbing listen. There is a phenomenon showing up in London where people are freezing to death in a localized, freak freeze while the rest of London swelters. Jo Grant and Mike Yates go to investigate a suspicious magician and the story twists into a tale of two aliens that are the same yet physically different. I suspected there was something alien involved, sucking the warmth from the environment to convert to energy as that’s a very Dr. Who concept. But this story moves beyond that. It’s both disappointing how Jo becomes the thrall of the magician, Diamond Jack, and the Doctor cannot really solve this one. But it’s a very 3rd Doctor story, ultimately. So it has a good build-up but the ending is a bit disappointing.
