The Pyralis Effect (#4.04)

  Big Finish, Companion Chronicles

This story really has a lot of Romana and a little of the 4th Doctor. And that works out fine for this, actually. The Doctor and Romana are randomly deposited on a space ship during their “run” from the Black Guardian. The Doctor disappears and we follow Romana as she finds an android in pain and is then found by the crew. Finally. It’s a very large, deserted space ship because it’s designed to give colonists a home when they land on a new planet to colonize. And the captain, it turns out, is looking for The Doctor but lets out the Pyralis instead, thinking their prison is the TARDIS. Their legends really aren’t very descriptive, are they?

This story is entertaining and freaky, both good things in my book. There is a Pyralis loose aboard the ship and two “people” who are sensitive to their psychic energies. So there are different issues going on – the Pyralis attacking people, someone strangling people, and a rogue android running about. A good adventure.
