Subterranea (6.6)

  Big Finish, Fourth Doctor Series

The 4th Doctor and Romana land underground on a planet with some mole-like citizens, burrowing about underground, looking for metals. The whole adventure has a bit of a claustrophobic feeling to it but it's still lots of fun. But there are also a lot of problems with this story - where do they get food? How do they keep going without repairing anything? How do these Cylex not have the intelligence to know that they'll consume everyone and have no one left to "eat"? They all plug into an ethical drive that's been poorly designed, that's for sure.

The adventure of this story is great but the logic requires a lot of hand waving. No one's bothered to check the surface for hundreds of years, even by accident? I had a great time listening to it but afterwards, questions came to mind. They had fresh fruits and vegetables but no way to create them as all of the ships have to keep moving, kind of like sharks. But it's never really explained why... Or why ??? is partially converted and thinks this is the way to go. Does she not love her husband? Apparently not as being converted is more important? So many questions.
