Zaltys (#223)

   Big Finish Main Range

I really, really enjoyed this story. Tegan got to take on a vampire emotionally, if not physically. Adric gets to be a kid, though a smart one. And Nyssa gets to help both the hero, Gevaudan, and the Doctor. The Doctor has a solution but ends up not being able to use it. Everyone has a purpose and helps in the solution to the story, in one way or another. Though Sable is a bit of a strange one. She doesn’t quite fit in this story, running around threatening everyone.

There are necro-life forms (i.e. vampires) and plenty of psychic powers to go around. It’s quite the fast paced story, leaving us to try to figure out what exactly is going on. I had a good guess and it turned out I was partially correct. There is cross and double-cross, and the motivations of other are often opaque. I really really enjoyed it all, except for Sable. That was the only character that didn’t seem to fit.
