Big Finish, Companion Chronicles
Ian “wakes up” to find himself running around a museum with Penolin, the curator, with some mysterious creature chasing them. Ian wanders through memories, telling the stories while something is feeding on him, taking those memories away. I rather enjoyed Ian’s stories in this audio as there are multiple stories to be told, but I didn’t like the framing narrative. And I found the ending to be rather anticlimactic, though appropriate.
Plus William Russell’s voice has aged a lot, which is noticeable for his character, but it’s not out of place here as he is supposed to be older. Perhaps Ian outwits the creature because he’s so extensively traveled or it’s so weak and the monster so strong? Either way it’s just not very satisfying, but it’s not unexpected since there aren’t many ways out of this scenario without the Doctor showing up!
