Big Finish, Companion Chronicles
I rather enjoy how the story’s timeline is jumbled about and we find out what happens but not why. But this story doesn’t connect as well for me because I just don’t know Oliver. Usually when a companion has a trauma, there’s a connection with the audience due to the adventures that we were along with them. However, this is a good first Doctor story, with a poignant ending. “Simon does melancholy extremely well.” – Lisa Bowerman
Peter Purves’s voice sure doesn’t sound much older! He does a great job of reading the story and being the First Doctor. I like the characters and the story definitely feels like a First Doctor story – there’s a quality to the stories that is more rooted in simplicity and the zeitgeist of the 60’s. Sparse yet thought-provoking and deeply concerned about the impact the individual has upon the world. Like it overall as a First Doctor story but it’s not something I’d listen to over and over again.
