The Prisoner of Peladon (#4.03)

  Big Finish, Companion Chronicles

Very nicely done! There are ice warriors, betrayal, retribution, fighting, and we get to see the Third Doctor in full alien warrior mode, waltzing in and revealing the facts of the story for the “ignorant” king. David Troughton is excellent as King Peladon and though he cries ignorance for most of the story, he does an excellent job of dressing down the Doctor for the way he treats his friends. He talks to the Doctor in a way I don’t recall other characters doing without totally alienating the Doctor. But usually he walks in and is accused of being a dangerous character but instead, he’s just not trusting and aloof, depending on the ignorance of the “people” involved to get to the bottom of the mystery. Splendidly done! And I expect a follow-up or two to happen eventually, though when I’m not sure as the Companion Chronicles are ending their run. Hmmm.
