Big Finish Main Range
I rather enjoyed both of these stories, with their mind-bendiness. I really lost the thread there for awhile in Vortex Ice. I understood the point but wow, getting who was who was just hurting my head! Cortex Fire is a bit more of a straightforward story, where an alien is messing around with a while planet’s inhabitants.
Both of these stories have the Doctor and Flip getting involved in an ongoing story, right in the middle where they think it’s one thing and turns out to be slightly another. I rather enjoyed the stories and the performances, it’s just the endings that let me down. I ultimately didn’t care about the cyborg/monster in the ice story as we barely see it. The Cortex, or guiding intelligence, for the second story was an interesting concept but it was a bit like The Fifth Element movie with the flying cars. Though that’s just a momentary thing. Confusion just led me to not care about the ending and I don’t think that’s what they’re going for. So only three jelloids because of that.
