Big Finish Main Range
I’ve never heard of ghost walks but the concept makes sense. And this story runs the gamut of emotions, from dead? Really? All the way back to “how’s he going to get out of this one?” It’s a matter of having faith in the Doctor to be able to fix things.
This story sees the Doctor and his companions up against a powerful, ancient demon called Sabaoth. Adric and Nyssa are transported to different times and situations, though both in the past. Side note: why aren’t they ever transported to perilous times in the future? Nyssa is sent back to a time where witch hunts were prevalent. Adric is sent back to a time when hangings were prevalent. Though both of those could be very similar time frames, I think. Tegan ends up wandering with the Doctor in a tomb for years until she dies, then bricks himself up in the tomb to prevent others from encountering the demon.
The beginning of this story sees Leanne giving a ghost hunt and hearing voices. Here is our modern day assistant as all of the other assistants are sent away or unable to help the Doctor. Leanne, though, is a very capable ghost walk leader/facilitator and ends up being a major part of the solution! This story weaves back and forth across all of the stories and times it encapsulates, keeping this listener entranced. Are they really dead? Will the mystery come to a good ending? Another case of the ending having some techno-babble that doesn’t quite make sense but enough sense for it to be believable. Loved the story overall, though! It’s just really well done all the way.
