The Paradox Planet (5.3)

  Big Finish, Fourth Doctor Series

Romana is unwittingly “stolen” from inside the TARDIS while in the vortex by a time tank. So the Doctor and K-9 chase after her, heading to Aoris. This is a planet where the future generations are at war with the past generations. It’s a bit mind-boggling and they all cross paths multiple times, with a cult awaiting the arrival of the Doctor, Romana, and K-9 in the 51st eon. It’s pretty crazy fun overall, but I suspect that it’ll all turn out to be because of some half-heard remark by one group or the other. This is, after all, only part one. I kept expecting someone to figure it out at any moment!

Though it’s a bit silly how much these two people are fighting themselves in different times, it’s also entertaining. They turn out to be not so smart in different ways and behave quite strangely towards the Doctor and Romana. One minute they’re threatening them and the next they’re inviting them to see how everything works. Very odd. But I just enjoyed the heck out of this overall.
