The Age of Revolution (5.1)

Big Finish Jago and Litefoot Series

I really enjoyed this audio! It was a touch confusing at first as I had forgotten that the Doctor dropped the duo off in the 1960s but it soon became clear. Plus they explained it themselves to Detective Sacker, grandson of Dr. Sacker, Litefoot’s old colleague. This is a fun romp, to get them investigating in another time when London is still around. And Ellie! I missed the stories where she was attacked by a vampire but I am rather liking that fact so she can still be around.

So the basics of the plot are that there is a statue with a crystal on it that wants to control masses of people so it’s using people to get its way. But thanks to a crystal of his own from Venus, Henry Gordon Jago is immune to the hypnotic effects and can act to save everyone. He is a very unlikely hero as he seems to be all bluster and affectation but when the chips are down, he jumps into the fray despite all of his cowardly talk. It’s easy to see how these two respect each other and rather enjoy each other’s company, despite being from different levels of society. They really make a good team! And they’re just so much fun to listen to. I’m starting to really enjoy the bluster of Henry and the smarts of George. And what better time to throw them into than the 1960s, where the strange and unusual are given plenty of leeway due to societal changes. Great stuff!
